Citing progress in the India-US trade deal, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted a strong momentum in the bilateral engagement between New Delhi and Washington. Jaishankar, concluding his visit to the US, expressed optimism about the trade deal’s completion soon, emphasizing its potential to enhance the relationship. During his visit, Jaishankar participated in the Critical Minerals Ministerial led by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“The historic India-US trade deal is in the final stages, opening up vast possibilities for our relationship,” stated Jaishankar, noting rapid advancements in critical mineral cooperation. Anticipating discussions on strategic issues, defense, and energy in the near future, Jaishankar underscored the evident positive momentum in the bilateral ties. Meetings with senior US officials, including Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, involved comprehensive talks on strategic and economic partnership aspects.
Jaishankar’s discussions with Rubio encompassed various facets of the India-US relationship, including trade, energy, defense, critical minerals, and technology cooperation. Both sides agreed on prompt follow-up engagements to advance shared interests, particularly in critical minerals exploration and processing. The visit followed the announcement of a trade deal by US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.
