The Indian Air Force’s C-130J aircraft departed on Sunday with the mortal remains of three of the five IAF personnel who lost their lives in the AN-32 transport aircraft accident at Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam. The AN-32 transport aircraft encountered an accident after landing at the Jorhat airbase on Saturday, leading to a fire and immediate response from emergency teams.
Squadron Leader Prashant Singh’s remains are being flown to his hometown in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, while Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar’s mortal remains are being transported to his residence in Gaya district of Bihar. Agniveervayu Danish Alam’s remains will be flown to his home in Bhojpur district of Bihar. The Kayamnagar village in Bhojpur district mourned the loss of 22-year-old Agniveer Vayu airman Danish Alam in the tragic crash.
Danish Alam, the only son of Mohammad Farooq Alam and Akhtari Begum, leaves behind his father working in a private company in Gaya district and his mother who is a homemaker, along with two elder sisters, Shagufta Parveen and Ghazala Parveen. The accident occurred around 10 a.m. during what the Air Force termed a routine sortie. The IAF had confirmed the accident earlier and initiated crash site management and preliminary inquiries.
In an official statement following the crash, the IAF expressed deep regret over the loss of five personnel in the AN-32 accident at Jorhat in Assam, acknowledging the supreme sacrifice made by Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveervayu Danish Alam in the line of duty. The IAF extended condolences to the families of the deceased, standing in solidarity during this time of sorrow.
