India’s major airlines are gearing up to resume full operations at Hamad International Airport starting May 1, a move signaling a return to normal air connectivity in the region. This decision comes after a two-month hiatus following a joint US-Israeli military strike on February 28, which initially targeted Iranian leadership and nuclear facilities but escalated into a broader regional conflict.
Leading carriers like Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo are set to spearhead the resumption, reestablishing connections between Doha and various key Indian cities and regional hubs. The Embassy of India in Doha confirmed this plan, emphasizing that the initiative is part of a larger coordinated effort among global aviation authorities to stabilize operations in the area.
While the resumption of flights is a positive development, the Embassy also highlighted the need for ongoing coordination due to the delicate security situation in the region. Passengers are advised to stay updated by maintaining close communication with airlines for the latest information on schedules, terminals, and bookings.
The recent ceasefire brokered in Islamabad in mid-April, further extended by US President Donald Trump, has provided a temporary period of stability. This has allowed commercial insurers to greenlight the gradual reintroduction of international flight services in the region, following a period where Qatari airspace was mostly closed to commercial traffic.
