Indian and Singapore Navies recently collaborated for a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) on Maritime Patrol Aircraft Operations at Paya Lebar Airbase in Singapore. The event involved detailed discussions on maritime surveillance capabilities, operational procedures, training, and best practices, showcasing the strong defense partnership between the two countries.
The High Commission of India in Singapore highlighted the significance of the SMEE, emphasizing the depth of exchanges and the enduring defense cooperation between India and Singapore. This exchange aimed to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation in maritime security and defense operations.
In a separate engagement, Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, met with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General NS Raja Subramani to discuss defense cooperation initiatives. During the meeting, Wong congratulated General Subramani on his recent appointment and acknowledged the longstanding defense collaboration through various exercises, exchanges, and dialogues.
Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Permanent Secretary (Defence) Joseph Leong co-chaired the 16th India-Singapore Defence Policy Dialogue in Singapore last month. The dialogue focused on reviewing the progress of ongoing defense engagements, discussing key areas of defense cooperation, military engagements, defense industry collaboration, capacity building, and regional security issues. Both sides also explored opportunities to strengthen the strategic relationship and expand cooperation in mutual interest areas, including industry collaboration.
