In Assam’s Rupai area, the Indian Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) collaborated for a two-day flood relief training exercise named ‘Jal Raksha’. The exercise, conducted under the Spear Corps on March 16–17, aimed to enhance coordination and response mechanisms during flood-related emergencies. The training included equipment displays, briefings on operational capabilities, and practical exposure to flood relief techniques.
Field activities took place at Rupai and Tengapani Ghat on the second day, involving ground and drone-based reconnaissance, establishment of a Joint Command Post, and coordinated rescue drills. NDRF personnel demonstrated boat capsize drills, while Army medical teams showcased emergency medical response procedures. The exercise also involved NCC cadets and local residents to provide firsthand experience of disaster response operations.
The Defence PRO in Guwahati emphasized the importance of such joint efforts in maintaining preparedness and coordination during flood emergencies, particularly in flood-prone areas like Assam. Officials highlighted the significance of these initiatives in enhancing operational synergy, response efficiency, and overall protection of lives and property during natural disasters.
