The Indian Army’s Red Shield Division conducted health and wellness programs in Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura, and Manipur to commemorate International Women’s Day. These initiatives aimed to promote preventive healthcare and raise medical awareness among women and their families. The Spear Corps of the Indian Army celebrated the day at Vibrant Village Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing the strength, resilience, and unity of women. The event honored women’s contributions to society and underscored the significance of empowering women in border communities.

The celebration in Tuting brought together local women in a display of camaraderie, health awareness, and community bonding. It began with a yoga session promoting physical and mental well-being, followed by a friendly futsal match between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law. This match symbolized harmony, mutual respect, and family unity, fostering stronger bonds within families and the community. The Indian Army’s initiative reflects its commitment to social cohesion and women’s empowerment in remote border areas.

Participants expressed gratitude for the inclusive activities, stating that such events not only bring joy but also inspire women to prioritize their health and personal growth. The celebration concluded with a message of unity and empowerment, highlighting the transformative power of supporting and encouraging women. In Mizoram, an HPV vaccination drive was held to prevent cervical cancer, with seven girls receiving the vaccine. In Tripura, a blood donation camp saw 35 individuals, including women, donating blood voluntarily to bolster local healthcare reserves.

At Leimakhong in Manipur, the Indian Army organized a medical and dental health check-up camp for 125 women and their families. This event included professional medical screenings and awareness sessions on maintaining dental and physical health in the long term. Through these efforts, the Red Shield Division reiterated its commitment to women’s health and well-being in the region. By addressing critical health issues like cervical cancer prevention and oral health awareness, the initiative aims to foster healthier communities in the Northeast. The Indian Army remains dedicated to ensuring quality medical care and health awareness reach even the most remote corners of the Northeast.
