India’s Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, visited Sri Lanka and met with Major General K W Jayaweera, Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College. During the visit, he also inaugurated the ‘Indo-Lanka Wisdom Corner’ at the college’s library.
General Dwivedi addressed the faculty and student officers at the college, emphasizing the crucial role of the Armed Forces in nation-building. He highlighted the importance of integrating niche and emerging technologies into military operations for enhanced effectiveness.
Additionally, General Dwivedi paid respects at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Memorial in Sri Lanka, honoring the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during Operation Pawan. The visit aims to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between India and Sri Lanka in defense matters.
General Dwivedi’s visit to Sri Lanka follows his engagements in the United Arab Emirates and underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation in shared interests and defense matters. The visit is part of efforts to enhance bilateral defense cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries.
