The Indian Army refuted media claims of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) establishing camps or encroaching into Arunachal Pradesh, labeling the reports as baseless. Reports alleging Chinese PLA encroachment near the Taksing circle in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Subansiri district were dismissed by the Army. A local organization had accused the PLA of expanding infrastructure inside Indian territory, including roads, bridges, and military camps.
The local organization submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Upper Subansiri district, asserting that Chinese forces had taken control of areas traditionally used by locals for activities like cattle grazing and hunting. The alleged Chinese activities, reportedly ongoing for 10 to 15 years and intensifying after 2020, were said to have encroached on lands used by residents for community purposes. The organization identified specific locations where Chinese infrastructure was allegedly established, expressing concerns over the PLA’s activities in the region.
Despite the accusations, the Indian Army dismissed the reports of recent Chinese encroachment and camp setups in Arunachal Pradesh. Arunachal Pradesh shares a border of 1,080 km with Tibet (China).
