India’s U-17 boys faced tough competition at the Asian Boxing U17 Championships 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Lakshay Phogat stood out as the sole finalist, securing a spot after defeating Seungmin Lee of Korea in the 75kg category. Additionally, four Indian boxers clinched bronze medals in their respective semifinal bouts.
In other matches, Narendra Nella (46kg) lost to Abdulloh Nuraliev of Uzbekistan, Yash Yadav (50kg) was defeated by Suld Usukhbaatar of Mongolia, Nivesh Pal (54kg) lost to Abdulbosit Yursunboev of Uzbekistan, and Naman (70kg) faced a close defeat against Abduvohid Abdumajidov of Uzbekistan.
With one finalist and four bronze medalists, the Indian U-17 boys’ team aims to finish strong in the upcoming finals. On the other hand, India’s U-17 girls continued their impressive performance at the championships, with eight boxers advancing to the finals and four securing bronze medals in the semifinals.
Rakhi (46kg) achieved a notable victory against Yating Zhang of China, while Khushi Chand (48kg) secured a dominant win over Mungunzul Altamgadasa of Mongolia. Despite some losses in other categories, Navya (57kg) and Diya (63kg) stood out with their wins. The Indian U-17 girls’ team, with eight finalists and four bronze medalists, now eyes gold in the upcoming finals.
