The Indian community in Australia is eagerly anticipating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Melbourne. A large turnout is expected at the ‘Melbourne meets Modi’ diaspora event on July 9. India’s High Commissioner to Australia, Nagesh Singh, emphasized the shared commitment of both nations to a free, open, peaceful, rule-based international order and Indo-Pacific.
Singh highlighted the significant enthusiasm in Australia surrounding PM Modi’s address at the Indian community event in Melbourne. The event at Marvel Arena is expected to draw 25,000 to 30,000 participants, with both Prime Ministers addressing the public. The strong interest in the event is evident as people from all over Australia are planning to attend.
Both India and Australia share a “value-based relationship,” focusing on a rule-based international order and Indo-Pacific. The two nations, as democracies with multicultural societies, aim for peace, development, and regional stability. During the visit, PM Modi and Australian leaders will engage in the India-Australia Annual Summit, aiming to expand sports cooperation beyond cricket.
