Dreamfly Innovations, an Indian deep-tech company specializing in advanced aviation battery technologies, revealed its plans to set up a 40,000 sq. ft. aviation battery manufacturing plant in North Bengaluru. This initiative aims to bolster the drone ecosystem in India and support the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The upcoming facility will have an initial annual production capacity of 100 MWh, with the potential to scale up to 200 MWh, making it one of the largest aviation battery manufacturing units in India dedicated to the drone sector.
The manufacturing plant will focus on producing advanced batteries for various drone applications, including defense, surveillance, infrastructure inspection, agricultural spraying, logistics, and emerging air mobility platforms like air taxis. Dreamfly stated that this investment will strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities for a crucial component of unmanned aerial systems and help reduce India’s reliance on imported aviation batteries. The company’s products currently boast 77% indigenous content, aligning with the goals of the Kisan Drone Policy and supporting local drone manufacturers with homegrown power solutions.
Kajal Shah, the Co-Founder and CEO of Dreamfly Innovations, emphasized the pivotal role aviation batteries play in determining drones’ performance, safety, endurance, and reliability. Shah highlighted the necessity of building domestic capabilities in advanced battery manufacturing as India’s drone economy expands. The new facility aims to develop cutting-edge batteries in India, bolster local drone manufacturing, and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat, Make in India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The expansion of manufacturing by Dreamfly underscores its enduring commitment to fostering indigenous deep-tech capabilities and supporting India’s aspirations to become a global hub for drones and next-generation aviation technologies.
