Indian cricket team players, including coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav, visited the historic Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha temple in Simhachalam before the fourth T20I match against New Zealand. In a video shared by the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association, the players were seen offering prayers at the iconic devotional place.
The team, gearing up for the match at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, donned saffron shawls as a symbol of reverence during their visit to the temple. Virat Kohli and Washington Sundar had also visited Simhachalam in December last year after a victory against South Africa in Vizag.
Gautam Gambhir, preparing for his second ICC tournament as a coach, has been visiting various temples during the ongoing series. The Indian team’s visit to seek blessings ahead of the T20 World Cup title defense has become a ritual for the players.
The Indian cricket team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, currently holds a 3-0 lead in the T20I series against New Zealand. Their exceptional performance is seen as a positive sign as they prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to start on February 7.
