An Indian delegation, headed by Ladakh Lt. Governor Vinai Saxena, has left Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on an Indian Air Force flight carrying the holy relics of Lord Buddha’s chief disciples, Arahant Sariputra and Arahant Maudgalyayana. The relics were on display at the Gandan Monastery in Ulaanbaatar from May 31 to June 9, where around 100,000 Mongolian citizens paid their respects. The delegation expressed gratitude to the Gandantegchinlen Monastery, the Indian Embassy, and the Government of Mongolia for their support.
The delegation, led by Vinai Saxena, arrived in Ulaanbaatar to bring back the relics to India. The relics were taken to Mongolia for a 10-day exposition at the Gandantegchinlen Monastery, and upon their return, the Indian Ambassador gifted a Mongolian plant sapling to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor at the airport. The Indian Embassy in Mongolia also posted about the delegation’s arrival and the reception by Mongolian officials and senior monks.
