Members of the Indian diaspora in Norway are eagerly awaiting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, expressing pride and enthusiasm. They believe the visit will enhance the relationship between India and Norway. One member mentioned the importance of PM Modi’s visit, stating that it signifies a positive step for both nations. Another highlighted the proactive nature of PM Modi and the potential for Norway to support India in various sectors.
The Indian community in Norway sees PM Modi’s visit as a moment of great pride, representing 1.5 billion Indians. This visit marks PM Modi’s first trip to Norway and the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years. During his visit, PM Modi is set to meet with King Harald V, Queen Sonja, and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store. Additionally, he will participate in the India-Norway Business and Research Summit.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the visit aims to strengthen India-Norway relations, focusing on trade, investment, clean and green technology, and the blue economy. The visit is expected to boost bilateral trade, valued at around $2.73 billion in 2024, and attract investments from Norway’s Government Pension Fund worth nearly $28 billion in the Indian capital market. PM Modi will also attend the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo, emphasizing strategic cooperation in various sectors.
