Top Indian runners like Anish Thapa, Belliyappa, Man Singh, and Gopi T. are preparing for the 11th edition of the New Delhi Marathon, set to be a major sporting event with an expected 30,000 participants. Participants from 31 countries, 490 cities, and 32 Indian States and Union Territories will compete in categories including Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K races.
The marathon, flagged off from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, will be led by Olympic boxer Vijender Singh and tennis star Rohan Bopanna through New Delhi’s streets. Certified as a National Marathon by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and recognized internationally, the event continues to grow in stature.
Indian Elite Marathon runners such as Anish Thapa, Belliyappa, Man Singh, Gopi T., and others will showcase the country’s talent. The marathon also serves as a qualifier for the Asian Games, providing a pathway for athletes to excel on the international stage.
Approximately 20 vision-impaired athletes will participate in the marathon, promoting inclusivity in sports. The event has raised ₹10 lakh for the Athletics Federation of India to support Junior Development Programs, strengthening grassroots athletics in the country.
