The Indian Embassy in Tokyo expressed gratitude to visiting members of Japan’s Diet for their support in enhancing the partnership between India and Japan. Charge d’Affaires Madhu Sudan welcomed Representative Junichi Mizuoka of the Constitutional Democratic Party and other party members, acknowledging their significant backing for the bilateral relationship. Madhu Sudan also attended a retrospective exhibition of former Prime Minister Shizo Abe during the day.
The Embassy highlighted Madhu Sudan’s visit to the exhibition, organized at the invitation of Mrs. Akie Abe, the wife of Shinzo Abe. The exhibition in Tokyo commemorated the life and accomplishments of the late former Prime Minister, emphasizing his vision, leadership, and lasting contributions. The Embassy noted the presence of a condolence message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Shinzo Abe and the historic speech delivered by Abe in the Indian Parliament, underscoring the deep friendship between India and Japan.
Former Prime Minister Abe’s words, “We must not let the dream end,” were emphasized by the Embassy as a poignant reminder of his legacy. The Embassy pledged to uphold Abe’s spirit and further advance the amicable relations and cooperation between India and Japan. In a previous interaction, Akie Abe, during her visit to the Indian Embassy in May, fondly remembered her late husband’s affection for India and his camaraderie with PM Modi.
Describing Shinzo Abe as one of Japan’s eminent statesmen and a genuine friend of India, the Indian Embassy in Tokyo reiterated the enduring bond between the two nations. Ambassador Nagma M Mallick shared insights with the distinguished guests on India’s continued reverence for Abe’s memory and the strong rapport between PM Abe and PM Modi. Akie Abe also discussed her philanthropic initiatives and engagement with youth, reflecting on the profound friendship between the two leaders.
