The Indian men’s cricket team is set to have a four-day warm-up match in Colombo starting on August 7, leading up to a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka beginning on August 15. The team, captained by Shubman Gill, will arrive in Colombo on August 4 and undergo practice sessions before the warm-up game at the Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC).

After the warm-up game, the Indian team will head to Galle for the first Test match at the Galle International Cricket Stadium (GICS) from August 15 to 19. The second Test is scheduled at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo from August 23 to 27, with both matches starting at 10 am local time. The series is crucial for both teams as they aim to improve their standings in the World Test Championship (WTC).

India currently holds a points percentage (PCT) of 48.15 after nine matches, placing fifth, while Sri Lanka is in sixth position with a PCT of 44.44. A series win will be significant for either team in their quest for a top-two finish and a spot in the final. This tour marks India’s return to Sri Lanka for Test matches after their 2017 victory under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, while Sri Lanka faced a recent series loss to the West Indies.
