In a closely contested match, Japan took the lead in the 15th minute with a goal from Captain Yoshioka Mahiro (15′). Fujiwara Yuma (20′) extended Japan’s lead in the second quarter. India responded with goals from Ashish Tani Purti (25′) and Captain Ketan Kushwaha (32′) to level the game.
Despite India’s efforts, Japan regained the lead through Yasui Kengo (34′) and Takahashi Aone (42′) to secure the victory. India will face Korea next on June 1 in their quest to bounce back in the tournament.
