Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, has arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica, to participate in the inauguration of President-elect Laura Virginia Fernandez Delgado. This visit marks the beginning of a diplomatic tour across Central America and the Caribbean to enhance India’s bilateral and development partnerships.
During his stay in Costa Rica, Margherita will represent India at the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Delgado. He will also engage with various dignitaries, business leaders, and the Indian community. The visit aims to strengthen ties between the two nations.
Margherita is scheduled to meet senior Costa Rican officials to discuss and enhance bilateral relations. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that this visit underscores India’s increasing engagement with Central America and the Caribbean through various partnerships and dialogues.
After Costa Rica, Margherita will proceed to Honduras to review bilateral cooperation with government leaders. In Belize, he will inspect India’s development projects, emphasizing grassroots-level support. The tour will conclude in Dominica, where Margherita will meet the country’s leadership, review ties, and engage with the Indian diaspora.
The minister’s upcoming visits follow his recent tour of Vanuatu and Tuvalu, where he participated in development cooperation activities, including supporting cultural heritage preservation projects under India’s Quick Impact Project initiative.
