Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, engaged in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs on Pharmacopoeia and a Quick Impact Project (QIP) in Dominica. The minister also discussed enhancing partnerships in various sectors with Vince Henderson, the Dominican Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade, and Energy.
During the visit, Margherita expressed satisfaction in finalizing the agreements and engaging with the Ministers of Health and Agriculture. Additionally, he met with Irving McIntyre, Acting Prime Minister of Dominica, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and fostering people-to-people connections.
Furthermore, Margherita met Dominica’s President Sylvanie Burton to explore ways to deepen the partnership between the two countries. He highlighted the significance of the visit by acknowledging President Burton’s roots in the Kalinago community and conveyed greetings from the Indian President and Prime Minister.
Margherita’s visit to Dominica follows successful trips to Belize and Honduras, aiming to bolster partnerships in key sectors. The minister was warmly welcomed by Foreign Minister Vince Henderson upon his arrival in Dominica, marking the first ministerial-level visit from India to the country since October 2018.
