The attack, involving drones and missiles targeting the airport’s passenger building, resulted in numerous casualties, some severe, during the early hours of Wednesday.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the “brutal and ongoing Iranian attacks” on civilian and essential facilities, including Kuwait International Airport. The Ministry emphasized Kuwait’s firm rejection of Iran’s aggressive actions, labeling them as a violation of international law and UN resolutions. The health authorities in Kuwait have mobilized swiftly following the aggression, with 63 injury cases treated and seven critical surgeries conducted. The health system remains on high alert to address any emergent medical needs.
Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, the spokesperson for Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence, affirmed the armed forces’ vigilance and readiness to respond to unfolding events. Hostile drones, part of the Iranian aggression, inflicted significant damage on the airport’s passenger building, leading to injuries that were promptly attended to.
