Iran’s airspace is partially open for cargo and chartered flights, but Indian nationals are advised against traveling to the country. The Ministry of External Affairs has recommended those already in Iran to leave via the land border with the embassy’s assistance. The Indian embassy in Tehran has helped 2,445 Indian nationals exit Iran through land border routes.
Israel’s airspace is open, allowing limited flight operations to destinations in the region, facilitating onward travel to India. In the UAE, airlines are operating limited commercial flights to India based on operational and safety considerations. Approximately 110 flights are expected between the UAE and India on Sunday.
Flights are also operational from various airports in Saudi Arabia and Oman to destinations in India. Qatar Airways is running flights to different Indian destinations as Qatar’s airspace is partially open. Kuwait airspace is open, with Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways resuming limited flight operations to India. Bahrain airspace is also open, with Gulf Air operating flights from Bahrain to various Indian destinations.
Iraq’s airspace is open for limited flight operations to regional destinations, enabling onward travel to India. Indian missions are actively engaging with the Indian community in the region, including associations, organizations, professional groups, and Indian companies. The welfare of Indian seafarers in the region is a high priority for the government, with Indian missions providing assistance to crew members on vessels, coordinating with local authorities, and facilitating their return to India.
Since February 28, approximately 1,296,000 passengers have traveled from the region to India. Indian missions and posts are operating round-the-clock helplines, proactively assisting Indian nationals, and maintaining close communication with local governments. Regularly updated advisories are being issued, including information on local government guidelines, flight and travel situations, consular services, and welfare measures to support the Indian community.
