Indian naval ship INS Sudarshini has docked at the Port of Baltimore in Maryland, showcasing India’s maritime legacy and the strong ties between the two countries’ navies. The vessel, part of the Lokayan 26 expedition, completed a significant transoceanic journey, arriving in Baltimore after passing through the historic Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.
During its stay, INS Sudarshini will engage in maritime activities and community outreach in preparation for the Sail250 Maryland festivities, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Before reaching Baltimore, the ship participated in Sail250 Virginia events in Norfolk, joining international tall ships for various parades and celebrations.
The Defence Ministry highlighted the voyage’s significance, covering over 13,000 nautical miles from Kochi to Norfolk in five months. This expedition underscores India’s maritime traditions and the ethos of fostering global friendship and cooperation. Recently, India and the US conducted their 29th Army-to-Army Staff Talks in Hawaii, focusing on enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and strengthening their strategic partnership.
The talks, led by senior military officials from both countries, emphasized deepening military collaboration, enhancing interoperability, and expanding professional exchanges to support mutual security interests. The meeting highlighted the growing scope of Army-to-Army engagements, reaffirming the commitment to bolster the India-US strategic partnership.
