Indian Naval Ships INS Udaygiri, Kavaratti, and Shakti, led by Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, have left Sattahip, Thailand, for their next mission in the South East Asia Region. The departure from Sattahip on June 29 marked the end of their port visit, as confirmed by the Ministry of Defence. This deployment signifies India’s ongoing commitment to engaging with South East Asian nations and strengthening its enduring maritime partnership with Thailand.
The visit aimed at enhancing bilateral naval cooperation and promoting interoperability between the Indian and Thai navies. The interactions between senior naval leaders focused on addressing mutual maritime security concerns and fostering closer ties. Professional exchanges, operational activities, and friendly sports engagements were conducted between the Indian and Royal Thai Navies during this visit.
As part of the port call activities, receptions were held aboard INS Udaygiri and INS Kavaratti, attended by the Indian Ambassador to Thailand, senior Royal Thai Navy officials, diplomats, and key members of the Indian community. This deployment aligns with India’s MAHASAGAR vision, emphasizing the importance of a united maritime community. It underscores the Indian Navy’s dedication to collective security and regional partnerships, reinforcing the strong camaraderie and bilateral maritime relations between India and Thailand.
The Eastern Fleet’s recent visit to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, further highlights India’s commitment to enhancing maritime cooperation in the region. INS Udaygiri and INS Kavaratti’s port call in Ho Chi Minh City on June 22 aimed at fostering professional exchanges and strengthening maritime collaboration between India and Vietnam. The Indian Embassy in Hanoi emphasized that maritime cooperation plays a pivotal role in the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam.
