Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi met with Myanmar’s Defence Minister General Htun Aung in Naypyidaw to review the current state of bilateral relations. Admiral Tripathi, on a four-day official visit to Myanmar, emphasized the strategic importance of India–Myanmar defense cooperation in enhancing regional stability.
During the meeting, discussions focused on existing bilateral activities and opportunities for future collaboration, highlighting the deepening partnership between India and Myanmar. Admiral Tripathi also engaged with Myanmar Navy officials to strengthen navy-to-navy cooperation and enhance operational interactions.
The visit included a ceremonial reception at the Central Naval Command Headquarters in Yangon, where Admiral Tripathi discussed maritime security, operational engagements, and training cooperation with Myanmar Navy commanders. Projects aimed at bolstering maritime security in the Bay of Bengal region were handed over by Admiral Tripathi to further enhance naval capabilities.
The Indian Navy emphasized that the visit underscores the enduring friendship between India and Myanmar, based on mutual trust and a shared commitment to maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
