Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet Ships – INS Udaygiri, INS Shakti, and INS Kavaratti have reached the Changi Naval Base in Singapore as part of their operational deployment to South East Asia. This visit reaffirms India’s dedication to enhancing maritime cooperation with Singapore. The High Commission of India in Singapore highlighted that this naval mission showcases India’s commitment to bolstering maritime partnerships in the region in alignment with its Act East Policy and Vision MAHASAGAR.
India’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Shilpak Ambule, visited INS Udaygiri and met with Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet. During the visit, discussions revolved around the capabilities of the Indian Navy ships and the activities of the Eastern Fleet during their ongoing operational deployment in South East Asia. Additionally, on June 30, Indian and Singapore Navy collaborated for a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) on Maritime Patrol Aircraft Operations, coinciding with the visit of Indian Navy’s P-8I aircraft to Paya Lebar Airbase in Singapore.
Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, engaged in talks with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General NS Raja Subramani on June 23, focusing on defense cooperation between the armed forces of both countries. The meeting included discussions on exercises, exchanges, and established dialogues to strengthen the defense partnership. Simon Wong also congratulated General Subramani on his recent appointment as India’s CDS, emphasizing the enduring defense collaboration between the two nations.
