The Indian Navy’s oceanographic research vessel, INS Sagardhwani, concluded a successful visit to Cam Ranh, Vietnam, from May 4-8. During the visit, the Commanding Officer of INS Sagardhwani met with senior officials from the Khanh Hoa Military Command and Naval Region 4. Discussions focused on strengthening maritime engagement, professional interactions, training cooperation, and scientific endeavors in line with the India-Vietnam Strategic Partnership.
The visit included engagements with the Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang, to promote collaboration in marine science and oceanography. Emphasizing research collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capacity building in oceanographic science and technology, the visit aimed at fostering closer ties between the two nations. Scientists from the National Oceanographic Institute also visited the ship during its port call, further enhancing scientific exchanges.
As part of the visit, there were training exchanges, cross-deck visits, sports activities, and Yoga sessions with the Vietnam People’s Navy, aimed at bolstering maritime security and regional cooperation. The Commanding Officer of INS Sagardhwani engaged with senior officials from the Naval Academy, Vietnam, focusing on expanding cooperation in naval training and education. The visit underscored the growing maritime partnership and scientific collaboration between India and Vietnam in the region.
