The Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) Sagar has docked at Chattogram harbour in southeastern Bangladesh, showcasing the deepening maritime ties between India and Bangladesh. This port call is part of the IOS SAGAR 2026 multinational deployment aimed at enhancing maritime excellence and regional cooperation. The ship was warmly received by BNS Ali Haider (F17) upon its arrival in Bangladesh waters and escorted to the harbour.
This visit underscores the strong partnership between the Indian Navy and the Bangladesh Navy, with the Commanding Officer of IOS Sagar set to engage in high-level diplomatic discussions during the visit. Scheduled meetings include interactions with key naval officials such as the Commander Chattogram Naval Area (COMCHIT) and the Commander Bangladesh Naval Fleet (COMBAN) to foster maritime cooperation and professional exchanges.
The port call agenda includes a series of professional, social, and commemorative events, with a welcome reception hosted by COMCHIT and a deck reception by IOS SAGAR. Additionally, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the Chattogram Commonwealth War Cemetery to honor shared sacrifices in history. Discussions on maritime logistics and port security are planned with the Chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA), along with mutual ship visits to promote professional interactions between the Bangladesh Navy and the crew of IOS SAGAR.
