Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Romanian President Nicusor Dan met in Bucharest to discuss the India-Romania partnership. The leaders talked about various aspects of their bilateral cooperation, including regional and global issues. They also signed Memoranda of Understanding in science, technology, sports, and Indian Studies at the University of Bucharest.
President Murmu’s visit to Romania marks the first State Visit by an Indian President in almost thirty years. The discussions between the leaders focused on strengthening cooperation in key areas of mutual interest. Economic collaboration, trade promotion, and investment enhancement were highlighted as crucial elements of the India-Romania relationship.
Both Presidents emphasized the enduring friendship between India and Romania, based on trust and strong people-to-people ties. They expressed a shared vision for the future, aiming for increased ambition and cooperation. The leaders pledged to work towards doubling bilateral trade in the next three years and commemorated the upcoming 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations as the “India–Romania Year of Innovation.”
President Murmu is scheduled to address the India-Romania Business Forum and visit the Parliament of Romania and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies on Friday.
