Indian Railways has granted 202 more train stoppages at 82 stations in Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar under Northeast Frontier Railway’s jurisdiction. This move aims to enhance rail connectivity and meet the demand for passenger accessibility from smaller areas. The stoppages, including for premium trains, will be implemented on an experimental basis to assess passenger response and operational feasibility.
These additional halts will benefit passengers by reducing travel time to major junctions and providing better interchange options with long-distance trains. Notable trains like the New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express and the New Delhi-Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express will now have more stops. The initiative covers key mail and express trains, strengthening railway services in North Bengal, Bihar, and Assam.
Stations like Rangiya, Nalbari, Barpeta Road, and others have been selected for these experimental stoppages. The plan is expected to be rolled out gradually over the next few weeks, improving travel convenience for passengers from semi-urban and rural areas. Passengers are advised to stay updated on train schedules through official railway channels.
Northeast Frontier Railway, headquartered in Maligaon near Guwahati, is dedicated to enhancing rail connectivity and providing better travel facilities to the Northeast and neighboring regions.
