Indian Railways has approved two significant infrastructure projects in Gujarat and Bihar, totaling Rs 647.58 crore. In Gujarat, a Rail Over Rail flyover will be constructed at Kosamba to enhance connectivity on the Mumbai-Vadodara main line. This project aims to facilitate seamless integration with the main line, eliminating surface crossings for safer and uninterrupted train operations.
The second project, sanctioned in Bihar, involves the construction of a 13.38 km bypass at Bhagalpur under the Eastern Railway. This bypass will link Gonudham Halt with Sabour to alleviate congestion at Bhagalpur junction, which currently operates at over 125% capacity. The new bypass is expected to enhance operational efficiency and punctuality by reducing delays caused by engine reversals at Bhagalpur.
These initiatives are part of Indian Railways’ strategy to boost capacity and reduce network congestion to meet the growing demand for passenger and freight services. The focus remains on enhancing safety, efficiency, and operational fluidity across critical routes.
