India’s Johann Emmanuel, riding a Kawasaki ZX-6, created history by becoming the first Indian to win the prestigious Qatar Superstock 600 Championship. In the final round, he won both races, securing the title in his debut season in this class.
At 19 years old, Johann, based in Chennai, was trailing the championship leader by nine points before the double-header weekend. Needing to win both races to claim the title, he displayed remarkable performance under pressure.
Qualifying second, Johann triumphed in both races, ultimately winning the championship with a 21-point lead. Despite facing challenges like a 200 km/h crash and three retirements due to mechanical issues, he finished the season with six victories out of 10 races.
Johann expressed his elation after the races, stating that winning his first international title in his debut season on a 600cc bike was an incredible achievement. He acknowledged the hard work and sacrifices that led to this success but emphasized that this was just the beginning of his journey.
Johann’s path to victory was not without obstacles, including a significant crash early in the season. However, he used this setback as motivation to bounce back stronger. His consistent performance and speed throughout the season culminated in this historic win, marking him as the first Indian rider to secure a QSTK trophy title in the 600cc category.
