The Mission Olympic Cell has added multiple rowers to the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Development Group in preparation for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya and other upcoming events. These 22 rowers, selected after national trials by the Rowing Federation of India, will compete in various categories like Men’s Single Sculls, Men’s Double Sculls, and Women’s Coxless Fours.
The rowers, including Paris 2024 Olympian Balraj Panwar and Asian Games medalists Arvind Singh and Jaswinder Singh, will focus on major international competitions such as the Asian Games and World Cup circuit. The aim is to strengthen India’s rowing talent pool for future events, including the Commonwealth Games 2030.
The induction of these rowers into the TOPS Development Group aims to enhance bench strength across different boat categories, emphasizing long-term development over individual medal prospects. With India gearing up to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030, the focus on rowing infrastructure and athlete depth is crucial for the sport’s growth and potential return to the games.
