India’s long-distance runner Gulveer Singh showcased another strong performance at the Music City Carnival, clocking 3:37.87 in the 1500m race to secure second place. Gulveer, following his victory in the 1-mile race, now joins Jinson Johnson as the second Indian to achieve a sub-3:38 timing twice.
At the 24th Annual Music City Track Carnival, Gulveer made history by becoming the first Indian runner to complete a sub-four-minute mile, finishing with a time of 3:55.63 seconds. Notably, Christopher Knight from the USA secured second place with a time of 3:59.72, while Tristan Trevino, also from the USA, claimed third place with a time of 4:00.27.
Preparing for the upcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Japan Asian Games, Gulveer, an army runner based in the USA, continues to break barriers. He holds impressive national records, including the men’s 5,000m indoor record of 12:59.77 and the men’s 10,000m national track record of 27:00.22.
Gulveer’s achievements extend to the men’s 3000m national record, set at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial – Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix 2025 with a time of 7:34.49. Additionally, he boasts the men’s half marathon record, clocking 59:42 at the NYC Half Marathon 2026, although this record is not recognized by World Athletics.
