The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that 14 Indian ships have safely left the Strait of Hormuz recently, with 14 still present in the Persian Gulf. Tensions persist in the region, crucial for global oil trade.

Iran recently attacked a ship en route to Mundra Port in India in the Strait of Hormuz. The attacked vessels, MSC-Francesca and Epaminodas, were identified by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGC-N). The Epaminodas, owned by Greek company Kalmar Maritime LLC, was headed to Mundra from Dubai.

Following the attacks, India protested strongly to Iran over the incidents involving Indian ships. Iran’s Ambassador to India was summoned for a meeting with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to address the shooting incident in the Strait of Hormuz. India emphasized the safety of merchant shipping and urged Iran to resume facilitating safe passage for India-bound ships.
