Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar displayed his expertise in the finals by scoring 10.7 in the last shot, surpassing teammate Niraj Kumar to secure the gold in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event. India celebrated a clean sweep as Akhil Sheoran claimed the bronze at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.
Niraj Kumar, earning his first individual international medal, entered the final shot with a slight lead of 0.2 points over Aishwary. After Niraj shot a 10.3, Aishwary needed a 10.6 to clinch the gold, which he achieved with a remarkable 10.7 score, finishing at 362.0 compared to Niraj’s 361.8.
In the junior men’s finals, Adriyan Karmakar secured his second gold medal of the championship with a comfortable win, scoring 353.2, outperforming silver medallist Dmitriy Kim of Kazakhstan by 4.7 points. Manvendra Singh Shekhawat from India secured the bronze with a final score of 338.6.
Niraj Kumar topped the qualification round with a score of 593-34x, followed by Aishwary (588-40x) and Akhil (588-32x). Rudrankksh Patil, the 10m air rifle gold medallist, achieved the second-best score of 591-33x in qualification. The trio of Aishwary, Niraj, and Akhil also clinched the team gold, with Japan and Kazakhstan securing the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
In the junior finals, Adriyan comfortably secured the gold, showcasing his dominance in the field. Maintaining a significant lead from the sixth shot onwards, Adriyan claimed his second gold medal in the championship. Manvendra Singh Shekhawat secured the bronze with a score of 338.6, while Hemant Burman finished fifth after a shoot-off.
