The Indian stock market is anticipated to be influenced by global factors in the upcoming week. Investors will closely monitor the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision, quarterly earnings reports, crude oil price movements, and events in the Middle East. Market sentiment is also affected by foreign fund flows and the rupee amidst ongoing geopolitical uncertainties.

Last week, benchmark indices experienced significant declines due to higher crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions, and mixed corporate earnings. Banking stocks were particularly impacted by varied Q1 FY27 results, while overall market confidence was subdued by a risk-averse environment and rupee weakness.

During the week, the Sensex dropped by 2.68% to reach 76,059.77, and the Nifty decreased by 2.33% to close at 23,767.45. Additionally, the Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices saw losses of 1.29% and 2.18%, respectively, reflecting broader market pressure.

Investors are keenly awaiting the US Federal Reserve’s policy meeting scheduled for July 28–29. Corporate earnings announcements, including those from Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever, Bharat Electronics, Adani Enterprises, Indian Railway Finance Corporation, and ITC, will also be in focus for market participants.

Developments in the Middle East are another area of interest for investors. While reports suggest a pause in broader military actions against Iran by US President Donald Trump, any escalation in the region could lead to increased volatility in global financial markets.

Monitoring crude oil prices is crucial, with a recent over 4% drop attributed to China’s efforts to revive peace talks between the US and Iran.
