A 25-year-old Indian student tragically lost her life in a road accident near Chicago, with six others sustaining injuries. The incident occurred late on Saturday night along Interstate 65 near Crown Point in Lake County, Indiana. The deceased student, identified as Navya Gadusu, was pronounced dead at 12:16 a.m. on Sunday due to blunt force traumatic injuries.

The Indian Consulate General in Chicago expressed deep sorrow over the student’s death and is providing support to the bereaved family. The Consulate stated that they are in contact with the family of the deceased and are assisting those injured in the accident. The fatal crash took place around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday when a red minivan carrying seven adults collided with another vehicle due to a sudden swerve.

According to the Indiana State Police, the minivan was following a vehicle with mechanical issues at a slow speed when the collision occurred. The impact caused the minivan to veer off the road and into a ditch. Investigations revealed that the minivan had only two front seats, and the other passengers were seated on boxes of mangoes without seat belts. The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently being probed by the authorities.
