Hockey India revealed the Indian Sub-Junior men’s and women’s teams for the Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship in Muscat 2026. The tournament, set for July 20 to 25 in Oman, will also serve as the Asian qualifier for the FIH U18 Youth Hockey5s World Cup. Seven teams will compete in each category, with India facing tough competition from countries like Pakistan, China, and Iran.
The squads were chosen from 15-member national camps in Chandigarh for the boys and Bhopal for the girls. The women’s team, led by Sweety Kujur, includes players like Khili Kumari, Mahak Parihar, Nilam Topno, and Kiran Ekka. Coach Rani expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, emphasizing the players’ hard work and dedication during the camp.
On the men’s side, Ketan Kushwaha will captain the Sub-Junior team, featuring players like Sawan Kumar, Ayush Rajak, Karan Gautam, and Ashish Tani Purti. Coach Sardar Singh praised the squad’s consistency and work ethic, highlighting their adaptability to the fast-paced Hockey5s format. The team aims to perform well in Oman and secure a spot in the FIH U18 Youth Hockey5s World Cup.
