In a setback for the Indian team, all-rounder Harshit Rana and spinner Varun Chakaravarthy will miss the remaining T20I series against England due to hamstring injuries. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed their absence before the fourth T20I match, where India chose to bat first.
Rana, who recently returned from a knee injury, and Chakaravarthy, recovering from a foot injury, were ruled out after sustaining hamstring injuries during the third T20I against England. This development has led to pacer Prasidh Krishna and all-rounder Washington Sundar being included in the playing eleven for the fourth game.
With Rana likely to miss the upcoming ODI series against England, India faces a challenge in maintaining the team balance. The absence of players like Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy, sidelined due to injuries, further complicates the situation.
Fast bowler Prince Yadav could potentially replace Rana in the ODI squad led by Shubman Gill. The series will kick off at Edgbaston, followed by matches in Cardiff and Lord’s.
