Indian tennis player Prajwal Dev has been granted a wild card entry for the Bengaluru Open 2026, showcasing the tournament’s commitment to promoting Indian talent globally. The event, celebrating its 10th edition, is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru from January 5th to 11th, 2026, featuring top Indian players and a competitive international field on the ATP Challenger Tour. Prajwal Dev, aged 29, secured this opportunity after clinching the Men’s Singles title at the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 in Bhubaneswar recently, setting the stage for him to compete against a strong lineup at one of India’s premier tennis events.
Elevated to an ATP Challenger 125 level last year, the Bengaluru Open now boasts a prize purse exceeding USD 225,000 and offers 125 ATP ranking points to the singles champion, enhancing its prestige and competitiveness. Prajwal Dev expressed his pride at participating in the Bengaluru Open ATP Challenger, particularly in his home state, emphasizing the tournament’s consistent provision of a high-quality platform for Indian players to challenge themselves against formidable international opponents. He expressed gratitude for the wild card and the support extended by KSLTA, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to showcase his best performance at the Bengaluru Open.
Prajwal Dev, a right-handed player hailing from Mysore, has established himself as a regular presence on the professional tennis circuit. He achieved his highest ATP singles ranking of No. 595 in February 2024 and reached a peak doubles ranking of No. 265 in July 2025. Notable achievements in his career include winning an ATP Challenger doubles title at the 2023 President’s Cup in Kazakhstan, where he partnered with Indian player Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha. Prajwal has also been a consistent representative of Karnataka at the National Games, having served as the state’s flag bearer in the last two editions.
