India’s Ambassador-designate to Japan, Nagma Mallick, met with Japan’s Minister of Economic Security in Tokyo to discuss various aspects of the bilateral partnership. The meeting included talks on Economic Security, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cultural connections. Last week, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi, co-chaired the 18th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi. Discussions encompassed economic, maritime, supply chain, critical mineral, technology, P2P, and multilateral cooperation between the two countries. EAM Jaishankar expressed optimism about the growth potential of the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan.

Both sides expressed commitment to enhancing bilateral exchanges in 2027, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan reported that Prime Minister Modi and Minister Motegi discussed the ‘Japan-India Joint Vision for the Next Decade,’ aiming to elevate relations to new heights. The leaders engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views on security, the economy, investment, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges. They agreed to further strengthen Japan-India ties based on the principles of the Special Strategic and Global Partnership. The discussions underscored the commitment to realizing a ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific’ region, emphasizing the importance of the strong bilateral relationship.
