India’s Ambassador in Amsterdam, Kumar Tuhin, highlighted the significance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the Netherlands. This visit marks the first summit level interaction between the two leaders since the new government formation in the Netherlands with Rob Jetten as Prime Minister. Ambassador Tuhin emphasized the need for a review of progress across various sectors and the strengthening of bilateral ties.
The discussions between the leaders are expected to encompass a wide range of areas including trade, investment, technology, education, health, and maritime cooperation. The Netherlands, serving as a vital trading partner for India, is also seen as a gateway to Europe. With the India–EU Free Trade Agreement on the horizon, the role of the Netherlands is anticipated to grow further, especially in sectors like energy where the country hosts globally renowned energy companies.
Ambassador Tuhin underscored the potential for enhanced collaboration in clean energy and Mission LiFE initiatives. He noted the existing strong trade and investment relations between India and the Netherlands, with a significant presence of Indian and Dutch companies in each other’s markets. The partnership between the two countries, both at the government and private-sector levels, is poised for further growth, leveraging their respective strengths for mutual benefit.
