India’s Ambassador to Israel, J.P. Singh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent two-day visit to Israel as a historic event. Ambassador Singh highlighted the warm welcome extended by the Israeli people, who celebrated the visit like a festival. The trip marked a significant milestone in India-Israel relations, with both countries enhancing their ties and signing 16 agreements across various sectors.
PM Modi’s address to the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, was well-received and appreciated, according to Ambassador Singh. The speech underscored the shared values and the growing partnership between India and Israel. The visit led to a notable upgrade in bilateral relations, transitioning from a strategic partnership to a special strategic partnership.
Science and technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), cyber security, and quantum technologies, were key areas of focus during the visit. Two agreements on AI, including one focusing on AI in education, were signed to align with the Prime Minister’s vision of ensuring technological advancements benefit all. Cyber security cooperation was emphasized as a critical area to address global threats effectively by leveraging the strengths of both nations.
The cooperation extended to agriculture, with the extension of Centres of Excellence aimed at enhancing farm productivity and supporting small farmers. Trade and economic collaboration were extensively discussed, culminating in the signing of a bilateral treaty and directives to conclude a Free Trade Agreement promptly. Defence cooperation is set to expand further, and cultural ties were bolstered through new agreements signed during the visit.
Ambassador Singh lauded PM Modi’s speech as visionary, emphasizing the commonalities between India and Israel and outlining a roadmap for future growth. The speech gained widespread appreciation and recognition, reflecting the Prime Minister’s commitment to strengthening India-Israel relations.
