India’s Ambassador to Norway, Gloria Gangte, emphasized the increasing cooperation between India and Norway ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the country. This visit, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years, aims to bolster strategic, economic, and regional partnerships between India and the Nordic nations. During the visit, PM Modi will engage in key discussions with Norwegian leaders and attend the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo.
Gangte mentioned the significance of the visit, especially in the context of global challenges and the India-EFTA TEPA agreement, which includes substantial investment opportunities and job creation in India. The discussions between the two countries will encompass various issues, focusing on both bilateral relations and regional cooperation for peace and solutions worldwide.
Highlighting the deepening ties between India and Norway, Gangte noted the upcoming signing of government agreements and business collaborations during PM Modi’s visit. She also underscored Norway’s consistent support for India’s membership in the United Nations Permanent Security Council and its condemnation of terrorism, particularly recent attacks in India.
The maritime sector emerged as a key area of partnership between India and Norway, with significant collaboration in shipbuilding, port development, and ship recycling initiatives. Gangte highlighted the positive relationship between India and the Nordic countries, emphasizing the potential for further growth and cooperation in various sectors.
