India’s Ambassador to Qatar, Vipul, joined a community condolence meeting held by various community organizations to mourn the passing of Qatar’s former Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The Embassy of India in Doha disclosed that the meeting took place on July 15, where Ambassador Vipul and community leaders expressed their heartfelt sympathies and remembered the late Amir’s leadership and kindness towards the expatriate community.
Kiren Rijiju, the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister, traveled to Qatar to convey India’s condolences on the demise of Qatar’s former Amir, who passed away at the age of 74 on July 12. Rijiju, representing the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, extended deepest condolences to Qatar’s current Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressing gratitude for the warm reception and support towards India and the Indian community in Qatar.
Rijiju praised the late Father Amir as a visionary leader who fostered the historic friendship between India and Qatar, now evolved into a strategic partnership. He emphasized that the legacy of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will serve as an inspiration to further enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries.
India declared a day of national mourning following the demise of Sheikh Hamad, with the national flag flying at half-mast atop the Rashtrapati Bhavan and other government buildings in Delhi as a mark of respect for the former Amir of Qatar.
