India’s Ambassador to Romania, Manoj Mohapatra, engaged with Romanian and Indian students from KIIT and KISS at the Embassy to enhance people-to-people connections and boost student exchanges between the two nations. The Indo-Mold Business and Cultural Organisation, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Bucharest, recently organized an Indian Cultural Day, featuring lively performances by the Sitara Dance Group. The event aimed to celebrate the cultural bond and friendship between India and Romania.
Ambassador Mohapatra, along with Emil Bloc, the Mayor of Cluj-Napoca City, Cluj, Transylvania, participated in the vibrant ‘Zilele Clujului’ celebrations, highlighting the rich culture of Cluj and the growing camaraderie between India and Romania. The Indian community in Romania showcased its patriotism while commemorating its presence in the country. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu during the informal Gymnich meeting of the European Union Foreign Affairs Ministers in Cyprus to discuss enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu expressed optimism about the future EU-India Free Trade Agreement, emphasizing the potential in defense industry, renewable energy, steel, automotive, fertilizers, and port infrastructure sectors. The trade volume between Romania and India in 2025 reached $1.2 billion, marking a significant increase from the previous year. Both ministers are enthusiastic about an upcoming high-level visit to Romania later this year, following the revitalization of economic cooperation between the two nations.
