India’s Ambassador to Thailand, Puneet Agrawal, held discussions with Shombi Sharp, the Deputy Executive Secretary for Partnerships and Coordination at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). They focused on enhancing collaboration between the two sides, particularly in areas such as trade, digital public infrastructure, renewable energy, and disaster risk reduction.
During the 82nd Session of UNESCAP in April, the Indian delegation actively participated, emphasizing India’s dedication to the 2030 Agenda and its strong involvement with UNESCAP in implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The session centered on the theme ‘Leaving no one behind: advancing a society for all ages in Asia and the Pacific’.
India and UNESCAP have a longstanding relationship, with India making voluntary contributions to ESCAP’s regional institutions and supporting capacity development projects that facilitate technology transfer. India is home to the ESCAP Asia and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology and the Subregional Office for South and South-West Asia.
