India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has begun a visit to Spain, Belgium, and Finland with a high-level business delegation to advance the India-EU Free Trade Agreement. The visit aims to enhance economic ties across Europe, focusing on trade, investment, technology, innovation, and sustainability. Key themes during the visit include advanced manufacturing, clean energy, digital technologies, gems and jewelry, and food industries.
The trip underscores India’s dedication to deepening its relationship with the European Union, a significant trading partner. It seeks to promote a balanced and beneficial agreement that supports resilient supply chains, sustainable growth, and a rules-based global trade system. The visit also aims to boost trade, investment, and collaboration in emerging technologies, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing.
During his visit to Spain, Goyal will engage in bilateral meetings with key officials and industry representatives. In Belgium, he will visit the Port of Antwerp and the Antwerp World Diamond Centre, along with holding meetings with top executives from Thales Group and Silox Group. In Brussels, the Minister will co-chair the India-EU Trade and Technology Council Ministerial Meeting. In Finland, Goyal is set to meet with the Minister of Economic Affairs and participate in the India-Finland Business Roundtable.
