India’s Diksha Dagar had a strong start at the Jabra Ladies Open golf championship in France, shooting a superb 4-under 67 to tie for second place after the opening round. She shares this position with England’s Hannah Screen and Hannah Burke, trailing Norway’s Dorothea Forbrigd by just one shot, who leads with a 5-under 66. Diksha, a two-time Ladies European Tour winner, is aiming for her third title and her first since 2023.
Reflecting on her performance, Diksha expressed satisfaction with her start and mentioned feeling comfortable on a course that had previously posed challenges for her. She highlighted her excellent play, including five birdies and only one bogey, at the Evian Resort Golf Club. Diksha credited her experience on the course for her improved performance this time.
Starting from the sixth hole, Diksha quickly settled into her round, securing birdies on the seventh and ninth holes. Despite a bogey on the 17th, she finished strongly with birdies on her final two holes, the fourth and fifth, positioning herself well for the upcoming rounds. Avani Prashanth, another Indian golfer, finished tied for 36th after carding a 1-over 72, while Pranavi Urs and Hitaashee Bakshi faced challenges on the opening day.
